This weekend’s Premier League action kicks off when two sides with 100% league records meet at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal laid down a marker with an impressive 2-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend, with several standout individual displays from the likes of goalkeeper David Raya and William Saliba attracting huge praise after the contest. That win meant Arsenal have won their opening two rounds of a top-flight campaign without conceding for the first time since 1971/72!

That form suggests Arsenal could push Manchester City again in search of their first Premier League title since 2003/04. Brighton will look to put a dent in those aspirations and have often been a bogey side on home turf for the Gunners - Arsenal have beaten the Seagulls just once at the Emirates in the past four competitive H2Hs here (L3), but that one win was in the last of those meetings back in December 2023 (2-0).

He might be the Premier League’s youngest ever permanent boss, but Fabian Hürzeler has hit the ground running at Brighton, making it two league wins from two with a 2-1 win over Manchester United last weekend. In doing so, he astonishingly became the first Seagulls manager in 23 years to win their home debut in charge. His next target is to help Brighton go and secure a third successive Premier League win for the first time since September last year.

This game will be a true test of Brighton’s progression over the summer. Not only are they taking on a title contender, but away form was a big downfall of theirs last year - only five sides secured fewer away Premier League points than their 18 and three of those went on to be relegated! Their opening round 3-0 win away at Everton, described by Hürzeler as “a good start and nothing more”, was certainly a step in the right direction.

Players to watch: Last week, at the age of 22 years and 354 days, Bukayo Saka (PL: G1, A2) became the third-youngest player to record 100 Premier League wins. Former Gunner Danny Welbeck is two for two in league matches so far for Brighton, with his strike against Manchester United being the 100th competitive goal of his club career.

Hot stat: No side has been flagged offside more after the opening two Premier League rounds than Brighton (13).
