Munich promises to be one of Europe's most attractive football destinations this weekend as Bayern Munich welcome the team that stripped them of their 11-year stranglehold on the Bundesliga last season, Bayer Leverkusen. It’ll be backdropped by the ongoing Oktoberfest, although Bayern haven’t fared so well during this renowned period in the German calendar, winning only half of their last ten home league games during the festival (D3, L2).

Boss Vincent Kompany will hope to avoid a sobering experience and he will be justified in entering this clash with confidence after seeing his side net more goals (G29) than any other Bayern coach after six competitive games (W6). It will come as little surprise then that Bayern have scored in both halves in all of their games this season, whilst netting at least twice before half-time in four of those six outings.

Whilst Xabi Alonso’s men are no longer unbeaten as they were for all of last league season (W3, L1), the former Bayern man knows the result of this may have huge implications on their title defence. Much like their hosts, Leverkusen have been rather prolific this season, scoring an average of 3.25 goals per game after four rounds, though that only offsets one of the worst defensive records in the league (GA:9).

That high-octane trend fits in with how this game played out last season when Leverkusen twice came from behind to claim the first of four points they’d get against Bayern in a 2-2 draw. They also had to come from behind twice to win last weekend, and that’s something they’re used to having avoided defeat in eight of their last nine Bundesliga games when falling behind at any stage (W3, D5).

Players to watchMichael Olise made four goal contributions in Bayern’s 5-0 rout of Werder Bremen last weekend (G2, A2), making him the player to achieve that feat earlier than any other player in their Bundesliga career. Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface recorded four goal contributions across his last two league games with his stoppage time winner in the previous round, although one here would represent a first against Bayern.

Hot stat: Leverkusen have scored at least twice in nine of their last 11 Bundesliga away games (W10, D1).
