Inter Milan and Torino share an identical record coming into matchday seven (W3, D2, L1), keeping them within two points of Serie A leaders Napoli at this early stage. The Nerazzurri warmed up in the perfect possible manner with a 4-0 demolition of Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League, following up on a 3-2 league win over Udinese last week.

Those two victories got Simone Inzaghi’s men back on track after a three-game winless sequence (D2, L1), notably including a Derby della Madonnina defeat to arch-rivals AC Milan. And based on H2H history, this could be an ideal game for Inter to continue their improving momentum as they have won their last five top-flight home H2Hs, and actually haven’t lost this fixture at the San Siro since April 2016.

Torino have lost their last four contests against Inter at any venue without scoring, and another could derail their initial positive form to open the season. For only the second time in the three-points-per-win era, they started the campaign unbeaten in their opening five matches (W3, D2), yet a 3-2 defeat to Lazio last time out, combined with an early Coppa Italia exit, means they are now in danger of losing three competitive games in a row for the first time since October 2022.

Being on the road perhaps gives them the best chance to get back to winning ways as Torino are unbeaten away from home this season (W2, D1). They ought to be wary of late slip-ups though, as the visitors have conceded three of their last four away league goals beyond the 85th minute.

Players to watch: Hakan Çalhanoğlu got Inter going in their 4-0 midweek win with an opener inside 15 minutes - the Turkish international has scored their last three goals against Torino. The visitors could respond through Ché Adams, with his four goals this season having been Torino’s first or last strike of the match.

Hot stat: The second half produced the most goals in eight of the last ten top-flight H2Hs at this venue.
