UEFA Champions League nights don’t get much better than recovering from two goals down to beat Manchester City 4-2, so PSG will be on cloud nine ahead of their return to Ligue 1 action, having now racked up nine consecutive victories across all competitions - their longest such run since February 2020. That comeback also means that Luis Enrique’s men have won ten of their 13 home matches this season (D2, L1), so Reims are unlikely to relish facing them this Saturday.
In that run, PSG have scored 3+ goals on seven occasions, while their last league defeat anywhere came back in May against Toulouse (W16, D4). Only Leverkusen have lost on fewer occasions across Europe’s traditional top-five leagues since the start of last season than PSG’s two Ligue 1 defeats, unsurprisingly leaving them nine points clear at the summit and in pole position for a fourth successive title.
The picture is much bleaker for Reims, who are experiencing a seven-game winless run in the league (D4, L3). That’s their worst such sequence since August 2021 and includes a disappointing 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Le Havre most recently, leaving Luka Elsner’s men just four points clear of the drop zone heading into the weekend.
The road is perhaps where Reims can afford optimism given that they’ve accumulated 11 of their 21 league points in away matches this term (W3, D2, L3). The visitors have also avoided defeat on their last two trips to the Parc des Princes (D2) - no side has done so in three successive visits to PSG since Bordeaux between 2010 and 2012!
Players to watch: Bradley Barcola has scored and assisted in each of his last three matches, but he’s never faced a club more often than Reims without scoring (six). Marshall Munetsi was on target against Le Havre last week, and netted the opener in last season’s corresponding fixture - both those goals arrived inside the opening half-hour.
Hot stat: PSG have scored a league-high six Ligue 1 home goals in the opening 15 minutes this season.
